Description
1. Extremely High Temperature Stability (Key Feature)
Dielectric Type: NPO (also known as COG), a Class I ceramic dielectric.
Performance: Its capacitance remains highly stable across the operating temperature range (typically -55°C to +125°C), with minimal change (temperature coefficient of 0 ±30ppm/°C).
Significance: Ideal for circuits requiring high precision and stability, as it ensures consistent performance without drift due to temperature variations.
2. Excellent High-Frequency Performance
Low Loss, High Q Value: The NPO dielectric exhibits minimal internal molecular loss, making it highly efficient for high-frequency applications with low signal loss and high quality factor (Q value).
Applications: Perfect for high-frequency circuits, radio frequency (RF) circuits, oscillators, resonant circuits, and any high-speed applications requiring signal integrity.
3. No Piezoelectric Effect
Feature: Unlike common Class II dielectrics (e.g., X7R, X5R), NPO does not exhibit piezoelectric effects.
Significance: It will not generate mechanical vibrations (and thus audible noise) under AC voltage, nor will its capacitance change due to mechanical stress (e.g., board bending). This is critical for audio circuits and devices subject to vibration.
4. Small Form Factor
Size: 0603 package (imperial), corresponding to a metric size of 1.6mm x 0.8mm.
Significance: Saves PCB space, suitable for modern high-density electronic products.
5. Stable Electrical Parameters
Voltage Rating: 50V DC, providing sufficient margin for most low-voltage digital and analog circuits.
Capacitance Tolerance: ±5% (J grade), ensuring high consistency for circuit design.
No DC Bias Characteristics: Its capacitance remains virtually unchanged under applied DC voltage, unlike X5R/X7R capacitors, which experience significant capacitance loss under high DC bias.
